This can be in the form of a handle on the center console by the shifter that is applied by pulling up or as a pedal by the gas and brake pedal which is applied by pressing down on it. When the vehicle is placed in park in an automatic transmissio? a parking pawl is engaged to prevent the vehicle from rolling. In manual transmissions or when on an inclin? the emergency parking brake system will prevent the vehicle from rolling. The emergency braking system is also used in emergency braking situations to assist braking. How do you know you need your emergency brake control replaced?
