What does the kick-down cable do? The kick-down cable connects from the throttle body to the transmission. Its purpose is to downshift the transmission when the throttle is opened past a certain point and the driver is demanding more power in order to quickly accelerate or pass someone How do you know you need kickdown cable replaced or repaired? The transmission will not downshift from a cruising speed no matter how far down the accelerator pedal is pushed The cable has broken internally The ends of the cable have broken off of the throttle or transmission How is the kick-down cable replaced by a mobile mechanic?
