What does the drive belt tensioner do? The Belt tensioner is a pulley mounted to either a spring or adjustable pivot point. This provides pressure on the outside of the serpentine/drive belt so it can run smoothly and turn all pulleys of the components that run off it like the alternato? power steerin? etc. How do you know you need your drive belt tensioner replaced? You may hear a sound coming from the belt because it doesnt have enough tension Some components such as alternator or power steering pump may fail if tension is lost The vehicle may not start How is the drive belt tensioner replaced by a mobile mechanic? The belt tensioners position is marked to insure proper positioning of new tensioner. The tensioner is then released to reduced tension on serpentine belt so it can be removed The belt tensioner is then removed (Usually a single bolt is what fastens the tensioner in place) The new tensioner is installed and lined up to previous marks of old tensioner The belt is installed and the tensioner is slowly released again putting tension on the belt. The tensioner is adjusted to insure proper tension is applied the belt How important is having your drive belt tensioner replaced? If the tensioner fail? the drive belt will become loose and components powered by that drive belt will no longer work. The belt can get caught in the engine bay as well. The more times a tensioner is removed or disturbed will cause it to become weak. If replacing the tensione? its recommended to replace the belt as well.

5-Star Service
5-Star Service
"I'm a big fan of this incredibly convenient service! GoWrench staff do a great job and respect your time, unlike the nightmare that is involved in visiting the dealership/auto shop just to get your tires rotated or oil change. I shouldn't have to lose a day of work, two times a year, just for regular maintenance & tire swaps -- and with GoWrench, I never have to deal with the patronizing, dirty, and time-consuming service at the car dealership or auto shop, again!"
