What does the crankshaft harmonic balancer do? The harmonic balancer usually has a rubber insert in the middle of it and helps to cut down on crankshaft vibrations when the engine is running. It comes as one piece with the crankshaft pulley which holds the serpentine belts How do you know you need the crankshaft harmonic balancer replaced?
